This is a pair of Swedish Art Deco Neo-Gothic style Club Chairs, c.1930. The chairs are upholstered with a blue and metallic gold brocade pattern fabric. The arms of the chairs are made of dark stained Birch carved into dramatic fluted curves that terminate in stylized claws. The facing edge of each arm is carved with a stylized Art Deco Acanthus leaf. The front feet of each chair echo the claw motif of the arms with stylized paws. Brass nail head trim all around adds to the impact. The fabric on the seat of one chair is frayed. Apart from this and a minor random rub on the wood as would be expected, there is no damage of any kind and the chairs are in excellent condition. They are structurally sound and solid and sit very comfortably. Either partial or complete re-upholstery is recommended. They would look good with a contrasting fabric on each seat, but would really be killer redone overall in Mohair or Leather. They measure 33" tall with the seat at 16" high, 21.5" deep, and 29" wide from outside of both arms.
