This is a graceful and collectible 1920s-1930s art deco figural table lamp or accent lamp, in a classic machine-age black and chrome colorway. The black and chrome is chic and cool, while still maintaining a richness you can only get in the craftsmanship, sensibility, and style of a truly vintage piece.
The lamp's main design element is a pair of chrome gazelles, sitting opposite one another on a black plinth base. The base sits on three square chrome feet on the front and two black ball feet on the back. The gazelles are both gazing upward, up the stem of the lamp toward the light, as if entranced. There is a ribbed milk glass torchiere-style shade, which is notched along the lip to allow the cloth lampshade to rest snugly over top, producing a gorgeous, soft light quality.
The lamp is in excellent, functioning vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, such as some patina to the metal and some minor expected areas of scuffing to the base and stem, which should be visible in the photographs. The lampshade is new and in excellent condition. The base may have been refinished at some point in its life.
It measures 25 inches tall including the shade. The shade is 14 inches long, 9 inches deep, and 9 inches tall. The base is 11 inches long, 4 3/4 inches deep, and 4 7/8 inches tall.
