Early "Richard Chester * Hanover" Pennsylvania in a Solid dark Cherry Case 102 1/4 inch Tall Case Clock circa late 1790's !!!

High Scrolled Bonnet with Stacked Rosettes and towering double Bulbous Finials. Fluted Round Quarter Columns on the Waist and the base. Carved Quarter Fans on the Base gently bringing in the Federal Period on this Massive Chippendale Case. Four Turned Full Columns on the Hood, with typical Hanover Oval side lite windows. Original Dial door Glass is Old & Wavy. Original Full Length Backboard. The Oggee Feet look Original with normal wear on the corners with Rose Head Nails, and only a couple replaced glue blocks underneath. (as seen in the last photo)

The Eight Day Brass Movement has the standard Hourly Strike, and has been Professionally Cleaned, Oiled , and Restrung with new nylon string for safety on 9-08-20.

The Painted Dial appears to be a normal English import with the standard "Strawberry Flower" Spandrels. After close analysis under a Black Light, the Dial Artist was allowed to make an accurate restoration of the original Signature.

Measures : Overall Height is 102 & 1/4 inches. Hood measures 22 inches Wide, and 12 inches Deep.
Base measures 21 inches Wide, and 12 inches Deep.

Historical Notes ; Richard Chester (died 1816) was an Early Hanover, Pa. Clockmaker working from 1765 to his death in 1816, He advertised as being on Frederick Street in the town of Hanover in 1796, and he also trained the famous Jacob Hostetter of Hanover as a clockmaker.
