Possibly the Most Ornate Monumental Carved Case from the E. Howard Clock Company in existence, built for the Pennsylvania Railroad's Union Station in Baltimore Md. !!! (Circa 1911 to 1927)
P.R.R. Originally built the "Union Station" in 1911, and later changed the Name to it's current "Pennsylvania Station" in 1927.
Rare Documented "Property of Pennsylvania Railroad * Union Station * at Baltimore, Maryland * 1515 N. Charles Street on the internal Paper Label with Service Inspection Record recording Repair Dates from 1929 to 1935, Repaired by Initials, and Accuracy. ( probably last of 2 or 3 records considering age of the clock)
Post Railroad Private Ownership is also Documented with an internal "Service Request - Repair Ticket" Dated from 1961 glued inside the Case.
Description ; A Hand Carved Patriotic Eagle grasping a Scrolled Flag under center of Dial is Phenomenal.
Numerals & Chapter Ring are Engraved into the face of the 3/4 inch thick White Marble Dial.
Primary Wood is Hand Carved Walnut, with secondary Oak in the clock movement encased area.
Marked "E. Howard 12 & 1/2" movement is Nickel Plated, and has a 12 1/2 inch Pendulum Drop.
Overall Romanesque Style matches the original Woodwork from the Station with "S" Scrolls and Sharp Deep Edges on the Eagle.
Movement : I took apart the Movement, Hand Cleaned & Inspected Each Part and is Running accurately since 1- 07-19.
This 8 Day Movement is Both "Rear Wind & Time Set" with the two arbor shafts accessed through the back door.
Measures : Overall Case is 54 1/2 inches Long, 32 1/2 inches High, and 16 inches Deep measured across the Paw Feet of the Base.
