Authentic "Horse Head" for Hitching Post made of cast Iron Circa 1890 !!! Still Retains the Square Head Threaded Bolt at it's base for tightening onto your Pipe Stand.
Provenance : From the Small City of Lebanon,Pa. which had it's many Iron & Steel Foundries boom in the around this city, from the 1860's to the first half of the 1900's.
I personally witnessed these Horse Head Hitching Posts disappearing as a newspaper delivery boy in the early 1960's, where they originally stood at the edge of the streets, in the old brick sidewalks of the Victorian House.
Measures : 10 8 3 1/4 inches thick. Inside Diameter of Hole for mounting post is 1 7/8 inches.
