Tompkins, Sixth New York Heavy Artillery : Age 29 years old at Time of Enlistment, November 20, 1862, at Morrisania.NY.; mustered in as captain, One Hundred and Seventy-second Infantry, November 20, 1862, to serve three years; transferred to Company " M.", Sixth Artillery, on consolidation, December 4, 1862; resigned, November 18, 1863; commissioned captain, date not stated, with rank from November 20, 1862, original.
