All Original Hanging Corner Cupboard with 7 Fancy Fitted Interior Compartments. Complex "Fitted Interior" is proof of a Master Craftsman. Late 19th Century Circa 1860-80.
Found being used in a Kitchen, but could be used as an Apothecary Medical Cupboard, a Spice Cupboard,or as an out of the way Document Storage Desk !
Front Wood Frame, Top & Bottom Boards are Old School 5/4 inches thick, with Solid Cornice Molding. The back has only three 1/2 inch thick boards with Straight Saw Marks and Cut Nails.Fancy Scrolled Vertical & Horizontal Dividers are also 1/2 inch thick. Bead Cut around door frame opening. Plenty of wood oxidation from years of exposure to air. Door has Full Mortise & Tenon Joints, and a mortised lock whereas the Key Hole has been filled in. Door Hinges have been replaced. Old White Paint has normal Crackle from age.
(No sign of circular saws,or power tools used to construct this cupboard)
Since the Lock was covered over, someone added a steel "Hook & Eyelet" on the bottom to hold the door closed. Seen in last photo of bottom which also shows the wall screw which was used to hold it up.
Measures 24 3/4 inches Wide across front, 24 1/4 inches High, and 15 1/4 inches Deep from front to back of corner. Weighs 28 pounds.
