Reverse Painting on top Glass Tablet is a Great Eglomise Dot Painted "EYE" with a Monastery Scene in the round Pupil of the eye ! Circa 1840 to 1860. There is a Cross on the forefront building with other buildings in close succession. Green Background with Corner Flower Spandrels are also created from Dots. There appears to be 2 people fashioned from simple Dots at a fishing pole at the white painted water Moat or River below the Monastery.
This same top tablet is an Early Copper Plate Glass with the waves & air bubbles.
Country Sheraton Period with Full Mitre Joints,Half Spindle Columns, and Stacked Molding.
American made Country Craftsman Mirror due to the Full wood frame being made of Pine. Stained a Dark Mahogany with a heavy Clear coat of varnish overall.
Overall measures 22 inches High, by 13 1/4 inches Wide and 2 3/8 inches deep at top cornice molding. Back nails are Period Cut Nails with only 4 newer replaced round nails at the center wood rail divider.
Condition is as Follows : Rare Reverse Painted top Glass is 95 % Near Perfect ! Mirror has about 70 % Silver Intact ! See last photo of white Sky reflection. Wood Frame is Complete with a Dark Mahogany Stain and a Later Varnish. (could have been painted at one time, since there is a little white on the back edges)
