This is a French chatelaine perfume art glass bottle with a metal hinged top. The glass is cranberry or pale ruby. The date is the 19th century, circa 1880.
The bottle is 2 ¾” high, 2” long and ½” in depth.
The top is metal, I think it is brass versus bronze, with a chain and a hinged top. The clear crystal internal stopper is present. On these old perfume bottles, the metal is put on over a filler, so that the glass is not damaged over time by rubbing against the metal. On this piece, you can see the filler clearly in the photos. It is not a repair; it is the filler that is original to the bottle.
The circular front of the bottle is hand enameled with a blue flower and green leaves. There are the remains of gold trim on the front.
The front and back are polished smooth, so as to lay flat. The sides are rounded.
There are no chips, nicks or cracks. There is age patina on the metal top; I do not clean the patina as many buyers prefer to see the age with the patina present.
