This is a small Chinese Peking art glass dish that may be an ash tray. The bottom has the word China etched on the glass. The date is circa 1890.
The dish is tiny at 3” wide and ½” high. The color is similar to French pink opaline. Towards the top rim the color is almost opalescent. As the glass goes towards the bottom it is a darker pink color.
The edge is trimmed in brass with a design in the metal. The metal was dark black with old patina. I cleaned it a little bit so that the design would show in the photos.
One end of the dish has a metal leaf thing attached to the metal rim via a wire. I think this means the dish may have been an ashtray at one time. If so, it is a very tiny ashtray. The other end looks as if another brass leaf was attached at one time and it is long missing.
There are no chips, nicks or cracks in the glass. Black patina remains on the brass. The word China is etched on the bottom underside.
