This is a miniature Chinese jade tea set. The jade is authentic. The date is circa 1910.
The jade stone is beautiful. I show several photos where you can see right through the stone to my fingers on the other side. The set is gorgeous.
Nephrite jade is a darker green than jadeite, or Chinese jade, and it is softer, easier to carve. Most nephrite jade comes from Alaska or British Columbia. This stone is not colored; it is authentic nephrite jade that has hues of darker color within the dark green, yet you can still see through the stone.
On the front of the teapot there is an intaglio carved design of flowers and leaves on stems.
The teapot is 2 ¼” high and 4 ¼” from spout-to-handle. The four little cups are 1 1/8” high and 1 5/8” wide at the mouth. The tray is 5” wide.
There are no chips, nicks or cracks. One cup has a few small marks on the interior bottom.
This set is right out of a local estate.
No, I have not had the jade authenticated. If you want to buy jade, versus a tea set, please ask questions as I am not a jade expert. If you need me to authenticate the jade before purchase, just tell me how to do so.
