This is a Bohemian art glass box made of black glass. The date is the 19th century, circa 1890.
The box is 7” high to the top of the finial, 3 1/8” to the rim, and 3 ¾” wide.
The front of the box shows a bird and two twigs of leaves and flowers, painted in white, yellow and green. The twigs are raised gold enamel.
Inside the lid and the bottom is hand lettered in enamel the number 28.
The finial shows lines in the glass, part of the glassmaking process. I show these lines in a photo. There is a tiny nick on the rim. There is some estate residue on the inside bottom. The underside bottom shows a lot of wear and scratches due to age. There are no other chips, nicks or cracks.
