This is a 19th century Bohemian art glass vase. The glass is amberina, gold to ruby red, or yellow to deep cranberry, and the outer glass is chip ice. The date is circa 1890.
The vase is 3 7/8” high and 4 ½” wide.
The rim is polished flat and beveled on both sides. Gold trim is on the rim and shows a lot of wear. There are some small pinprick nicks and one larger nick that I show in a close-up photo. The rim comes down in a deep V in four places.
The pontil is round, indented and polished smooth.
The inside of the glass, you can see and feel a type of thumbprint in the glass; this shows on the inside, but not so much on the outside. The outside, it is textured, like how the French do their cameo glass, to give an ice or water effect; this is called chipped ice, or ice chip. The bottom shows a lot of wear and scratches due to age.
There are no other chips, nicks or cracks.
This is a high quality piece of glass.
