This is a 19th century Bohemian art glass box. The glass is purple amethyst. The date is circa 1890.
The box is 4” high and 6 ½” wide, which is quite large for a glass box.
The metal hinge and front snap are in good working condition. There is patina and wear on the metal.
The box is hand enameled in raised white and gold, with borders, flowers, leaves and dots.
The glass has some air bubbles and there are a few burst air bubbles, one of which I show in a photo.
There is some age wear to the raised enameling.
The middle of the underside bottom is indented and smooth, where the pontil is located. The bottom shows a lot of age wear and scratches.
There are no chips or nicks or cracks.
