This is a Bohemian art glass bowl or jardinière vase. The maker is Moser. The glass is diamond etched on the bottom inside the pontil and it reads “Made in Czecho Slovakia Moser Karlsbad.” The signature dates the glass to the years of 1918 to 1922.
The glass is dark amber in color. The shape is termed an Art Deco cut. The bowl or vase is 4 3/8” high, 10” long and 5 ½” wide.
The rim is polished flat with a slight bevel on the inside and a slightly larger bevel on the outside.
The cameo frieze is a double loop around the bowl. The design appears to me to be Bacchus playing with grapes. I get all sorts of grape motif items in my shop because I live in the heart of the Oregon wine region, and grape motif items of high quality comes from the estates linked to the numerous vineyards and wineries.
The sides and ends have deep Art Deco cuts.
The front - center of the bowl, towards the bottom edge, the initials AB are etched. The bowl may have been a wedding gift or another type of gift, and so it was personalized.
The pontil is oval, indented and highly polished. The signature is inside the pontil. The bottom shows a show of wear due to age.
There are no chips, nicks or cracks.
