This is a set of eight French Haviland & Co Limoges hard paste porcelain bread and butter plates, decorated in the Feu de Four process; six of the plates are in the coupe shape, the other two plates have a rim. The date is circa 1903.
The blank is Schleiger 19, which is blank number 3 with a lot of gold trim on the edges, handles and finials.
I believe the pattern is Flowers and Seeds, which shows a type of flowering poppy with leaves and stems. However this pattern is created with greens and browns, versus the more typical reds and browns.
You can view more Feu de Four in the book by Nora Travis, “Haviland China the Age of Elegance”, pages 40-41 and read about the kiln firing process. Production was limited, therefore scarcity today is quite high.
The plates are 6 1/8”.
There are no chips, nicks, cracks or crazing. The gold trim is not worn.
The green underglaze mark is Haviland France. The blue overglaze factory decorating mark is Haviland & Co Limoges "Feu de Four."
I have more Feu de Four in my shop, so please look for it.
