This is a Bohemian Czech art glass vase made of green glass; the color of the green is similar to a Forest Green. The maker is Harrach. The date is the 19th century, circa 1880.

The vase is 13 ½" high, 5 ¾" wide through the body and 4" wide at the mouth.

The front of the vase is beautifully hand painted enamels with a colorful songbird perched on long flower stems. There are long green grassy stems, and different blossoms in white, pink, red, brown, blue and lavender, and a few thistles too. The bird is brown and yellow with blue wings, dark tail feathers and a chestnut red head.

The tall body of the vase tapers into a neck that flares out to the mouth. There is gold trim that shows a lot of wear due to age. Around the neck there is a line of white beading.

The rim of the mouth is finished flat with a slight bevel on the outside edge and no bevel on the inside edge.

The pontil is round and indented and ground smooth.

There is a flake chip on the outside of the mouth on the backside of the vase. Gold has been painted over the flake to match the trim, either at the time of the decoration or soon after as the gold matches the original gold trim. There is one larger nick and several pin prick nicks on the inside edge of the mouth. There is a blob of something on the outside of the neck, which I show in a photo, and another blob on the inside of the neck, which might indicate a real old repair. There are imperfections in the glass due to the glass making process at the time. There are a few tiny spots where the artist left bits of paint and trim on the vase. There are no other chips, nicks or cracks.
