This is a Bohemian Moser small art glass vase. The date is in the first quarter of the 20th century, circa 1919 to 1922.
The vase is 4 ¼” high and 4” wide at the mouth.
The glass is a purple amethyst color. The shape has faceted panels on the bottom. Around the middle is a band of gilded warrior figures, holding spears and shields. The figures are acid etched, gilded and painted in brown and olive-green. The neck indents in and the mouth flares out. The top is polished smooth and beveled slightly. The bottom is smooth with a round circular indentation.
The signature is either acid or diamond point etched and reads Moser Karlsbad.
There are no chips or cracks. There are 3 small nicks on the rim of the mouth. I tried my best to get close-up photos but the camera couldn’t show the nicks. The bottom shows a lot of scratches due to age and wear. The gilded band shows some wear. There is a small area of roughness in the interior near the bottom, which can be felt, but I can’t get the camera in there or a magnifying glass.
You can view more Moser glass with the gilded bands of acid etched figures and from the same time period in the book, “Moser 1858 – 1997” by Jan Mergl and Lenka Pankova, on pages 113 to 115.
