This is a French Bawo & Dotter Limoges chocolate pot. The pot dates to the first part of the 20th century, circa 1900 to 1914.
The pot is about 10 ½” high to the top of the finial. It is about 7 ½” from spout-to-handle.
The finial is a looped circle, and covered in gold. The handle is smooth, and trimmed in gold. There is some wear to the gold trim on the handle. The blank is smooth with a round foot. There is gold trim around the edges and at the inside tip of the spout.
The transfer pattern is one of pink and yellow roses are stems with thorns. The leaves are green with some pink and yellow. There are some pale gray leaves in the background. The pattern circles the top of the body of the pot and again above the foot. More flowers are on top of the lid.
There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There is a dimple glaze mark on the side of the pot, which is a result of the firing process at the factory. There is a little bit of rubbing and age wear to the gold trim, and a bit more rubbing wear on the handle.
The green underglaze marker’s mark is Elite underscored by L followed by France.
The red overglaze factory decorating mark is the man with Bawo & Dotter Elite Works above and Limoges France below.
