This is a Rookwood American art pottery letter holder, dating to 1956.

The letter holder is 3 1/8” high, 4” long and 2 ½” wide.

The shape is rectangular, with a partition in the middle to hold two sets of envelopes.

The glaze is blue or a blue-gray. The inside of the holder is a lighter shade of the glaze. The front has a design of the original American five cent stamp, with the date 1847, and the words “ The First US Postage Stamp.”

There are no chips or cracks. There is crazing, which is the nature of art pottery.
