I originally thought this art glass vase was Italian, Venetian or Murano, but I had a glass collector tell me that it is Bohemian Czech, and the maker is most likely Loetz. The date is circa 1900.

This is why I thought the vase is Italian. The yellow is not a solid color. Czech tango glass that I’ve seen is one solid color. This yellow is swirled with streaks of red (almost orange) and a little bit of blue. Visually the glass is breathtaking. Inside the mouth, the swirls are apparent. On the outside of the body, when close to the vase, the colors show as more mottled. From a distance the vase appears to be totally yellow. This may be a Loetz version of yellow tango glass.

If you are interested in this glass, I suggest you look at the photos on a full size monitor versus a cell phone or tablet.

There is an exterior clear glass layer.

The vase is 8 ¾” high and 5 1/3” wide at the belly.

The pontil is round, indented and polished.

There are no nicks, chips or cracks.
