This is a big art glass hat vase, most likely American, and probably circa 1900 or earlier.
The glass is an emerald green with a clear glass on the bottom. The lip drops down on all sides, to make the shape of a tall hat. The mouth and interior are coated with a chemical that creates the iridescence. The edge of the lip is round and smooth.
The vase is 8 ½” high, 10 ¾” from side-to-side, and 8” from front-to-back; it weighs just under 8 pounds, which is one big piece of glass.
The color of the green changes in different types of light as you can see in the photos, however the main color is emerald green. It is quite beautiful if you collect green glass.
The bottom shows a large round polished pontil.
There are no chips, nicks or cracks. The bottom shows a lot of age scratches. There is a tiny fleck of ash imbedded in the glass. There are a few random tiny air bubbles.
There are light glares in the photos.
