This is a German hard paste porcelain plate. The plate is not marked by the maker, so the maker is unknown. The date is circa 1880.
The plate is 7 7/8”.
There are seven different wells for different types of shellfish. A few of the wells look like turkey oyster wells.
In the blank, there is a folded napkin, folded over five of the wells, and with a frayed edge; it is quite pretty, and I tried to show this in closeup photos.
The rim is colored pink. The edge is trimmed in gold. One well is edged in gold. Four of the wells have a design in the blank at the edges to resemble the outside of an oyster shelf and are brown. The wells are glazed white. Three of the wells have a transfer pattern of a shellfish.
There is a hand lettered number on the underside.
There are no nicks, chips, cracks or crazing. There is some wear to the gold trim.
