This is a French Haviland & Co Limoges hard paste porcelain (fine china) soup tureen. The date is 19th century, circa 1888 to 1896.
The tureen has a slot in the lid for the soup ladle. It appears to be the Marseille blank, which has a leaf shape. The tureen is about 6 ½” to 7 12” high to the top of the finial, 11 1/4” long and 9 1/4” wide.
The soup tureen is artist decorated outside of the factory. It is not signed by the artist. The decorating theme is one of blackberries with thorny vines and blackberry flowers. The shading is red, more of a dark burnt red color and shading to a salmon pink.
I have other Limoges serving dishes listed to my shop painted by this same studio or artist with the red and the blackberries. Just do a search within my shop for “blackberries.” These are nice serving dishes and would look good on a holiday table during the Christmas season, or at any time of the year.
There are no chips, nicks, cracks or crazing.
The green underglaze mark is H & Co L France
