This is a small Bohemian Czech art glass box; the size is sufficient to hold several wedding rings, earrings, pills, etc. The glass is a beautiful green and it is paneled. The date is the 19th century, circa 1890.
The box is 1 ½” high and 2 5/8” wide.
The box has a 19th century hinge on the back and it snaps in front. The metal is brass.
The decoration on the lid is one of a lily flower and a lily bud on long stems with large lily leaves. The enameling of the lily flower is raised up quite a bit from the glass, which indicates a higher skill level in the hand painting. There are a few more lily leaves hand enameled on the bottom sides.
The paneling of the glass is gorgeous and it makes the glass look faceted. If you open up the box, you can feel the panels with your fingers.
The bottom is round, indented and smooth.
The metal has age patina. The bottom interior has a little bit of estate staining due to use that I did not try to remove.
There are no chips, nicks or cracks.
