Antique English Printed Pottery Sugar Bowl with over painted printed patterns to enhance the allure of its decorative features. It has a beautiful good quality EPNS [ Electroplated Nickel Silver ] fancy stand and shifter spoon. The joy one gets from pride laying table settings, or to stimulate the intellectual aesthetic interests of your quests.

The EPNS Stand appears to me to be a mixture of design, from the ‘Rococo’ [ reversed ‘C’ scrolls ] of the upper section of the handle to the ‘Empire’ style, [ ancient Greek/Roman design ideas ] of the paw feet, and finally the contemporary design of the middle section c1908-1909. All in all a very nice attractive decorative piece.

The factory marks to be seen on the base are as follows. The brown backstamp mark, a Standard Manufacturers mark, is ‘S.F & Co. England set over a Coronet and then Royal Devon’. S.F.& Co. is S. Fielding & Co., Ltd., Devon Potteries, Stoke, Staffordshire Potteries. A black painted, probably a decorators mark, X482,T. Set over the backstamp. The following moulded and raised rectangular blocks containing a Design Registration no. [ I think, because it is difficult to read ] RD 553584, c1909, and on the other rectangle ‘BATH’ ? . These marks are not clearly impressed. There are other impressed marks, set over ‘Bath’, which might be Manufacturers date letters but I am unable to decipher. Marks on the underside of stand base. ‘2.5364’ & EPNS & Makers marks

Condition is Excellent. Some very minor rubbing to gold coloured outlines [ only very little/see pics ] Minor tiny firing frits inside bowl, and a few tiny firing faults which are only just minor distractions, but nothing else. No faults or errors to report on the EPNS Stand or Shifter Spoon. They are both in excellent condition. No Silver Plate wear to either. The whole thing looks similar to which it did when it was new !

Sizes. o/all height 7,5/8” [95mm ]. o/all width 6,5/8” [ 62mm ]. o/all depth 4,1/8” [105mm ]

Weight. 375gms.
