A Welsh Antique Pine Dog Kennel Dresser C1900 having a superb `chestnutty' original naturally aged stained and old varnished finish. Made in two parts. The upper section being an open close boarded `t&g' triple shelf rack with nearly all original cup hooks remaining overhanging molded cornice and under hanging scalloped frieze all supported on boldly designed `shoe' feet. The lower section comprising three drawers original round white ceramic handles set on aesthetic movement style brass back plates over two cupboards with recessed paneled doors and original metal hanging handles either side a central 'dog kennel' all set on a plain faced chamfered edge skirting.
Note. This dresser is very nicely proportioned and displays an evenly distributed and aged `chest-nutty' natural polished stained colour. Due to the heavy demand in recent years for fashionable `stripped and waxed yellow pine' the vast majority have been stripped here in the UK and at the moment I think it is nice to save it from being stripped. However it all depends upon the buyer.
All the drawers cupboard styles and rebated cupboard door panels are decorated with 'tramline' grooving very fashionable for the time and is probably the foremost distinguishing feature which fixes the dating of this piece to C1900 although the overall proportions remind me of earlier 19thC Geo111 Country made dressers and the rather bold eccentric white ceramic drawer handles and their Victorian `aesthetic' taste lacquered brass back plates display strong dating features with origins of earlier times.
