This charming 19th C Staffordshire figure of a Spaniel Dog has a very pretty face and is one of the better pottery moulded shapes of its kind. Its painted black features are in very good condition for it's age. This would be a super decorative item to add to your collection, or to incorporate into the interior design your home.
Size. 8,5/8" tall, [ 219mm ]. 6,1/8" base length, [ 155mm ]. 4,1/16" base wide, [ 104mm ].
Weight. 1lb 11.2ozs. or 0.77 kgs.
Condition. Excellent. Two tiny paint chips behind left ear.
Note. These types of Staffordshire dogs were generally mass produced. However, there are exceptions to my following guide opinion. I frequently experience seeing a range of manufacturers moulding and firing faults in Staffordshire Moulded Pottery figures. Those who are experienced in this subject will know what I am talking about. So especially for those who are new, or even relatively new to this ceramic subject. This example is no exception, where I can see a short firing crack at the juncture, near the base edge, where the base is attached to the two body sections. One has to very close to this Dog when on show to see this. Also some small/tiny particles of clay stuck to the glaze, that had become stuck to the body before the glaze was fired. See Pics.
