Fantastic and colorful bowl was made by the Empire Works, an Earthenware manufacturer in Shelton (Hanley), Stoke-on-Trent with a mark dating it to 1896 - 1912. This bowl is in such great condition and will make a perfect piece for your Eclectic China set or for display in your cabinet! A dark green fades to a pale green, then white with purple and yellow pansies fill the center! The rim has a wave or shell pattern with touches of gold accents. The bottom has a mark of THE EMPIRE WORKS, a well known and collected North Staffordshire Pottery company - Stoke-on-Trent England. It is numbered (2 718/5164) (I believe).
The condition of this piece is excellent! Some crazing with a little discoloring on the outer shell, while the inside has bright colors and very little in the way of utensil marks and loss of transfer - especially for a piece that is well over 100 years old! And such a large piece, it measures 12" x 10" by 2"!
