Offered is a beautiful little 4 cup Brown Teapot. This is the traditional teapot with a manganese brown glaze (Rockingham glaze), made of red clay found in the Stoke-on-Trent in Britain. It has a lighter brown ring that reminds one of burl wood. Cutest little side note about this pot... I found it as an estate sale (as I do most of my items) with a little note stuck inside that reads "COLLECTIBLE WAS IN SAN FRANCISCO EARTH QUAKE 1905". (on a post-it note) Now of course I have no idea if that is true but it is a cute side-note for this cute little teapot and I will include this little hand written note when I ship it.
Teapot measures 6" tall to the tip of the cap. It has two little flake chips at the end of the spout and a couple glaze skips on the base. The base has incised marks MADE IN ENGLAND and what appears to be REG M - both smaller then, U.S.A. Patent 78526. Now I have searched US patents and this number is not accurate for a teapot.
In any case this a nice Rockingham glaze teapot in excellent condition for surviving the San Francisco earth quake. (teehee!)
