These little oval plates from Wallace China are so bright and colorful that one wouldn't guess their age, but the mark on the back assures us they were made in July of 1953! And what a nice design. A Maroon/Burgundy flower with green leaf and stem and maroon edge, all airbrushed. I cannot name the pattern but after an exhaustive search to find it I can tell you that it a hard to find design!
Both plates are in excellent condition with no damage or utensil marks. They measure 4 3/4" by 7" and were likely side dish or bread plates. Wallace China is a California pottery known and collected for their various restaurant patterns! This is a very nice example of how beautiful and durable some of this hard working china can be~
