This is the Teacher's Edition of the Pre-Primers basic reader from the Dick and Jane series. It contains all three of the Pre-Primers that you would normally find individually with a soft cover along with an extensive Teacher's Guidebook section, all bound in one charming hard cover book.
Book is titled "The New Pre-Primers", published by the famous Scott Foresman and Company, 1956 Edition. This book includes "The New We Look and See", "The New We Work and Play", and "The New We Come and Go" by William S. Gray, Marion Monroe, A. Sterl Artley and May Hill Arbuthnot, illustrated by Eleanor Campbell.
From 'A Note to the Teacher': The last pre-primer "The New We Come and Go", prepares for a successful transition to the Primer, "The New Fun With Dick and Jane". Humorous, exciting stories true to everyday life hold the children's attention and make them feel that reading is fun.
As with all vintage readers, the book has the most adorable pictures! The books contain the well loved characters Dick, Jane and Sally along with their pets, Puff and Spot!
There are 256 pages in the front of the book that encompass the Teacher's Guidebook and 72 pages which make up the 3 pre-primers. The Contents page shows the material included in the Teacher's Guidebook. There is a vocabulary list at the end of each of the pre-primers.
Red and light blue cloth covered boards. Measures 6-1/4" x 8-1/4" x 1-1/16" thick.
Very Good condition on this book! Some rubbing to boards, corners and edges on the exterior but no cardboard showing through. Front flyleaf and title page (for the guidebook) are missing in the beginning of the book. "10 cents" is written in light marker on the inside front cover. Some dog-eared corner creases on pages. Light soiling on back blank page and inside back cover. Pages are very clean overall and free of rips and tears. Just a handful of pages with small finger smudges. Page corners are sharp. Binding is tight. A very nice copy!
