Vintage Oneida COMMUNITY Unusual Heart Shape Wood Silverware Flatware Storage Box Case Chest
This vintage wood silverware storage case is in an unusual heart shape, perfect for that special sweetheart on Valentines Day or another special day! It has a mahogany brown finish on the exterior. The box opens up completely to reveal a red anti-tarnish interior with leaf and flower decorated satin knife lining so will be perfect for a silverplated or sterling silver set. On the left side of the box, the knives are stored in a heart shaped holder which has 11 slots. On the right side of the box, there are 8 main slots along with another 4 slots at the top for shorter pieces.
Has its original Community label inside along with the "Kenized Oneida Ltd." anti-tarnish label.
This box would be perfect for your Oneida Community plate 1930's art deco patterns such as Coronation, Milady, Noblesse, Deauville or Lady Hamilton. It would also fit in with the 1940's patterns such as Morning Star.
Measures 17-1/4" x 16-1/8" x 3-3/4" tall. Box measurements taken with point of heart at the bottom.
This box is in very good condition, inside and out. There are some scattered marks/scratches/nicks etc. on the exterior as well as some crackling of the finish but the overall appearance on the table is very nice since it has been cleaned and polished. Some minor things to note: the cream satin section towards the center of the box is not firmly attached to the wood behind it but it doesn't affect the knife storage at all. There is a little wear to the red fabric around a couple of the knife slots as shown. Lastly, there is a moisture stain on the outside bottom of the box. There are no bad smells. The hinges are perfect and work well. A very unique vintage box! Difficult to find!
