Up to a service for 16 people (offered in services for 4) in this beautiful vintage Oneida Community Plate Coronation silverplate flatware pattern. This is a highly collectible pierced pattern introduced by Oneida Community in 1936 and you can see the Art Deco influence in the design of the handles. There are ridges running down the length of each handle which end at a pierced floral section just before the smooth, squared off end. The leafy scroll and flower design matches the design on the corresponding china and holloware pieces which were made to match!
This is an unusual grille or viande set which has the viande knives and forks. Viande knives are a little shorter than the regular sized and have shorter blades while the forks have longer handles and shorter tine sections. The rest of the pieces are the regular size.
There is up to a complete service for 16 available but we are offering the sets in services of 4, so you can choose if you would like a service for 4, 8 12 or 16. Just pick the quantity desired (you can see at the upper right above the 'add to cart' button how many services for 4 are available). Each service for 4 people includes a total of 20 pieces which are as follows:
4 Hollow Handle Grille/Viande Style Dinner Knives 8-1/2" with French Stainless Blades
4 Grille/Viande Style Dinner Forks 7-1/2"
4 Salad or Dessert Forks 6-5/8" (longer version)
4 Round Bowl Gumbo Soup Spoons 6-7/8"
4 Teaspoons 6-1/8"
Most of the pieces are marked "Community" or "Community Plate".
I have another Coronation viande set up for sale that has the modern bladed knives and oval soup spoons if you prefer that style.
HISTORY OF THE PATTERN:
The Coronation pattern was introduced to commemorate the crowning of King Edward VIII in England (which never did happen). The flatware was also marketed in Canada and Great Britain, where it is known by the name Hampton Court.
These old patterns are getting more and more difficult to find in sets and will only become rarer as time goes on.

The pieces are super shiny and clean with no dullness of the finish and no plate wear. Gently hand polished and then hand washed and dried so it is ready to be given as a gift or for your own use.
