Up to a service for 12 people available in this beautiful vintage Oneida Community Plate Coronation silverplate flatware pattern. This is a highly collectible pierced pattern introduced by Oneida Community in 1936 and you can see the Art Deco influence in the design of the handles. There are ridges running down the length of each handle which end at a pierced floral section just before the smooth, squared off end. The leafy scroll and flower design matches the design on the corresponding china and holloware pieces which were made to match!
This dinner set has the traditional style pieces rather than the modern grille/viande style service. If you would prefer the viande style, I do have two different services available in other listings. Just type "Coronation" into the search box at the top and you will see more of what I have available.
There is up to a complete service for 12 available but we are offering the sets in services of 4, so you can choose if you would like a service for 4, 8 or 12 . Just pick the quantity desired (you can see at the upper right above the 'add to cart' button how many services for 4 are available). Each service for 4 people (4 place settings) includes a total of 20 pieces which are as follows:
4 Hollow Handle Dinner Knives 9-1/4" with Modern Stainless Blades (Serrated version)
4 Dinner Forks 7-1/2"
4 Salad or Dessert Forks 6-1/4"
4 Round Bowl Gumbo Soup Spoons 6-7/8"
4 Teaspoons 6-1/8"
Most of the pieces are marked "Community" or "Community Plate".
HISTORY OF THE PATTERN:
The Coronation pattern was introduced to commemorate the crowning of King Edward VIII in England (which never did happen). The flatware was also marketed in Canada and Great Britain, where it is known by the name Hampton Court.
These old patterns are getting more and more difficult to find in sets and will only become rarer as time goes on.
Build your own set! I do have many more pieces in the Coronation pattern available that are not listed. Shown in the last photo are some of the pieces that may still be available. You should know that this pattern was made over a period of years and there are many different sizes of dinner knives and forks along with different styles of soup spoons and knife blades. If you are trying to match an existing set, you will need to measure your pieces along with a blade and handle length on the knives, and tine length on the forks. Please inquire for availability and I'll be happy to help you build a custom dream set for you or for a gift. Additional pieces ship for free.
Buy a flatware silverware chest with your order and save with combined discounted shipping. Chests are available separately.
CONDITION: This dinner set is in very good to excellent, beautiful condition. No Monograms. No dents or bends in the metal. Just the normal light fine surface scratching you would expect to find with a used but well cared for set. The pieces are super shiny and clean with no dullness of the finish and no plate wear. Gently hand polished and then hand washed and dried so it is ready to be given as a gift or for your own use.
Price is for each basic service for 4 (20 pieces).
