Antique 14K Gold Victorian Archaeological Revival Cat Brooch. This delightful antique brooch dates to the mid Victorian period, circa 1870. It features an exquisitely detailed cat's head complete with fur, whiskers and rose cut diamond eyes. The head is set upon two arched rods with rope twist detailing which gives it an Etruscan revival air. The back shows an era appropriate tube hinge and c-clasp closure.
Condition is very good. Two of his 8 whiskers are broken but this appears to be a very old injury that does not cause any viewing displeasure. This piece is unmarked but has been fully tested to 14 karat gold. It measures 1-3/16 inches (29.8 mm) wide by 9/16 of an inch (14.6 mm) tall.
Don't miss! He's wonderful!
