Vintage Art Deco 33-inch Czech Bohemian Foil Glass Flapper Necklace. This exotic all-glass flapper necklace features the graphic combination of eye-popping aqua blue paired with jet black. And I've not ever seen these elongated foil beads before! There are two of those at the sides, each measuring a whopping 40 mm long by 8-9 mm wide.
Dating to the 1920s, the necklace center is an aqua glass foil bead measuring approx. 19.5mm by 14.5 mm. And further up, there are two smaller aqua foils at approx. 7.5 mm diameter. The 4 large faceted black beads (two 41mm teardrops and two 27 mm bicones) add balance and visual interest. The remainder of the necklace is made up of the typical irregularly faceted round Czech beads in opaque black and transparent aqua. The entire necklace is 33.5 inches long with no clasp. It is fully knotted on the original light blue cord.
Overall, its condition is very good. Of the foil beads, only one of the small beads is chipped. Both of the large black teardrop beads show hairline fissures that appear to have been there for a very long time. And there are tiny fleabites here and there. Everything is shown in my pics. Keep in mind that none of this is readily evident in normal viewing circumstances.
It's an unusual and stunning beauty from a bygone era.
