The Philosophical Antique pillar of Japan's Meiji " HAND CRAFTED ART OF ORDINARY PEOPLE"
This belief is evident in this spectacular stone wear Tetsubin.. for beauty was discovered in everyday ordinary and utilitarian objects, created occasionally by nameless or unknown craftsmen . The objects made by the common people were considered to transcend beyond beauty or ugliness.
The pillar tenants required objects be.... crafted by usually anonymous people, made by hand, functional to daily life and representative of the regions in which they were produced....
Made of brown ash colored stone ware, displaying interesting shapes and bumps, wonderful kiln fragments with dramatic green glaze drips and splatters. Exquisitely and wonderfully creative, this dramatic Tetsubin, has been artistically rendered with large bamboo rope intertwined with massive stoneware rope braids to form the handle. The lid, crafted as an irregular green glazed shaped cup, and with a mighty poring spout...A Superb Work of Art.
This "Set Alone Treasure" would be marvelous set on a library table or a large gentleman's desk ...for it 's beauty deserves a special place in your home.
