A charming Victoria C & E full size tea cup and saucer set with that calming light green color. It features a colorful flower bouquet pattern in pinks, yellow, blue, violet and white with gilt decorations. The rims have a gentle scalloped edge. This set is in amazing mint condition as it is somewhere between 91 to 105 years old. The clear glazing still shines.
C & E is Cartwright and Edwards Longton, England (1859 - 1987) a pottery and china company. They took over the Victoria Pottery Co. (est. 1882) there in 1912. Both pieces of the set are fully hallmarked and were produced sometime between 1912 to 1926 as the “Ltd” designation is missing which was not added until 1926.
The pattern number 272 is written on the bottom of the cup in gold color. After ardent searching I still have not found another example anywhere. I have yet to identify the name given. This pattern is not to be confused with their pattern number CAE33 which is very similar.
It is a lovely set to admire for your display, to compliment other pieces, or as a gift for someone.
