A coveted Coro necklace that has a Victorian revival design. The setting is heart shaped and open with an antiqued gold tone finish, scrolls and blue rhinestones set into floret designs. The neck chain consists of connected tube links.
These necklaces and also their matching earrings and brooches were originally made in various rhinestone colors such as green, amber and multi colored as well as the blue. Sometimes they were made with other plating color rather than the antiqued gold finish. They are all increasingly difficult to find in good condition.
This piece with the blue rhinestones can be found featured on page 40 of Julia C. Carroll’s book Collecting Costume Jewelry 101. The length is 15.0 inches. The center design measures 3.0 lengthwise. It is signed “Coro” on a raised cartouche on the back. The condition is excellent.
