SUPER RARE * 1930's Effanbee 20" Dy-Dee Lou "Book Cover" Flocked Swiss Dress
INCLUDES: DRESS * SLIP * BOOTIES for a complete outfit
This is the IDENTICAL Effanbee factory Dy-Dee issue dress highlighting the cover of Barbara Hilliker's Dy-Dee doll reference book --
VERY VERY RARE...
I have sold three of these elusive and wonderful dresses over the last few years -- 2 in the 15" Dy-Dee Jane size, and 1 in the 11" Dy-Dee Ette size... it was also issued in a red flocked dot version.
This dress was produced in the 1930's and although modeled on the front cover of Barbara's book on a MOLD THREE doll that was issued quite a bit later, the dress was actually produced in the 1930's and is appropriate for your Mold 1 and Mold 2 Dy-Dee LOU dolls. Here I show it modeled on my own MOLD 2 brunette Dy-Dee Lou.
THIS IS THE ONLY 20" Sized Dy-Dee LOU example that has ever been documented~
I offer this supreme example of the classic Dy-Dee dress from my own collection.
INCLUDES: DRESS * SLIP
This lovely dress is made with GREEN FLOCKED polka dots sprinkled on an antique white woven cotton background fabric. Intricate cotton lace enhances the elastic sleeve openings, and around the Peter Pan style collar. A BIG BOW ties to the back complimenting the full skirt that is gathered into the bodice with pinch pleats. TWO small classic Effanbee buttons close the garment at the back.
Condition: the dress is in near mint condition with the ORIGINAL YELLOW SILK bow still attached between the collar. The fabric is crisp and without flaws but for a small area around the top buttonhole in the back which I show in the photos. The flocked 'dots' are vivid and perfect. The lace is unbroken and complete and there are no rips, tears or loose stitches. The elastic at the sleeves is supple and unstretched.
This dress is one of a few that are an absolute MUST HAVE to complete your Dy-Dee collection.
Listing is for the dress and a new replacement full slip.
