Ideal Toy Co 1926 Vintage TWINKIE Town -- Elf Pixie Brownie Doll
This is an EXTREMELY HARD DOLL TO FIND IN ANY CONDITION~
Darling and impish little elfin composition and cloth doll was manufactured by IDEAL TOY CO in 1926.
His name is TWINKIE and he was issued as a promotional feature doll in 1926 sponsored by the Hamilton-Brown Shoe Company as their MASCOT.
This adorable fella' is just 14" high, with rotating arms, legs, wrists and head -- and FEATURES fetching BLUE celluloid FLIRTY EYES that open and close AND move from side-to-side. All these features make TWINKIE an expressive and interesting boy.
His ORIGINAL and firmly stuffed body is made of super soft velveteen fabric; it shows some light spotting but his overall condition is SUPERB. His composition head has been restored beautifully as exactly like his original as could possibly be done. There is no crazing and the colors and painted features are vivid and perfect. He has little CELLULOID hands that are without cracks and are sturdy, and they ROTATE so he can use them to express himself better. There is just a bit of 'smudge' on the lower palm of one hand that may remove, but I thought... "Well, all boys get dirty now, don't they?!"
His felt clothing is made just like the original of quality materials down to his JINGLE BELL vest and elfin shoes.
TWINKIE is a promotional doll for the Hamilton-Brown Company. They also printed promotional BOOKS about him and where he lived -- TWINKIE TOWN. There were FOUR BOOKS PUBLISHED and I am INCLUDING them here with the purchase of this young man. These are reproductions of the 1926 originals (if found run about $60 to over $400 each), which are in and of themselves rare to find. These were reproduced by a wonderful man in Maine some time ago and are no longer available. I was lucky enough to obtain a full set -- they make a wonderful addition to his display and play value.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to read these darling books to your children or grandchildren, or as a teacher to young boys and girls, and have TWINKIE himself present to listen to his own timeless tales !!
This is an especially RARE and Darling Set that although nearly already an ANTIQUE, will become an HEIRLOOM for your own family for perhaps another 100 years.
