Patent Pending 14" Effanbee Patsy composition doll.
Darling EARLY issue Patsy -- circa 1928 to early 1930's -- with brown side-glancing eyes, beautiful dark brown to red painted hair with molded HEADBAND. Comes in her COMPLETE original outfit, including her TAGGED DRESS.
Near MINT in EARLY Box -- ALL ORIGINAL doll has been stored in her box for more than 85 years -- never played with -- clothing never removed until today when I took photos.
This is a wonderful HISTORICAL example of the Effanbee line of Patsy dolls... the one that "started it all". AMAZING to find intact and in her box after all these years.
She retains BOTH her Golden Paper Heart Hang Tag and her ORIGINAL RED SILK HEADBAND... so often misplaced and lost on these wonderful dolls.
Patsy herself has on MINOR signs of her age, with the absolute lightest of intermittent crazing here and there. There are NO rubs to the paint on her pretty impish face; NO rubbing to the paint at her joints... another sign of a doll that has never been played with an posed. All paint is intact and all painted features are present. Her composition is smooth and even in color.
Patsy's outfit is PRISTINE -- early short dress with onesie underneath. The onesie shows its early origin having NO gathered elastic at the legs... a style only seen on the earliest issue of Patsy. Underneath her onesie is a fine cotton ribbed onesie underwear/undershirt combination garment -- I have never seen this before, and I imagine one would only tend to witness its existence in an unplayed with/unopened box set like this one... fascinating! Patsy's oxblood red oilcloth side-snap shoes are nearly perfect; one snap separated and I have repaired it to stay in place. Her red striped socks have never been removed from her feet. The only sign of wear to her outfit is a clean, antique white patina that replaces what may have been bright white so many years ago now. Her little dress is TAGGED with the EARLY Effanbee red and white cloth tag sewn horizontally into the hem at the back... again, only on the earliest Patsy doll clothing.
Her original PATSY BOX is included. It is a plain brown cardboard box with the BLUE and GOLD Effanbee label on the end, indicating her original price of $4.50 and the color RED for her dress.
SUPER RARE find -- this EARLY box and issue PATSY is a TRUE TREASURE for any PATSY DOLL FAMILY Collector, and not to be missed.
