This is a wonderful 20" Effanbee SUGAR Baby composition and cloth doll from the 1930's. She comes ALL ORIGINAL with little to NO CRAZING dressed in her original romper.
SUGAR BABY is in Excellent Condition... there is little to no paint loss, with some at the tips of her toes. Otherwise her composition is smooth with little to NO CRAZING or flaws. All facial features are clearly defined with beautiful coloring. Her blond molded hair is nearly perfect. SUGAR BABY is an ALL ORIGINAL doll and has had NO RESTORATIONS OF ANY KIND.
Her Original pink cotton print romper has intermittent fading, but is intact with replaced elastic at the leg openings -- clean and fresh. I have added a crisp, white organdy wide-brimmed bonnet and a nice pair of knit booties to complete her outfit.
You can read more about Sugar Baby in Ursala Mertz' book, "Collector's Encyclopedia of Composition Dolls, Vol II" on page 79.
Her cloth body is somewhat worn but CLEAN and she poses and drapes nicely with LOTS OF PERSONALITY.
A very desirable baby and highly sought after -- with the holidays ahead CHRISTMAS is a great time to celebrate and add baby to your nursery.
Note: toys are not included with purchase.
