Neil Reid Mitchill (American, 1858-1934), moon lit coastal seascape with boats on the horizon. Circa 1900. Pastel with gouache highlights on paper, signed lower left. Mitchell was fascinated by the night sky and created many landscapes and seascapes with the moon piercing through the clouds. In the style of Maxfield Parrish and an early precursor to artists like Damien Loeb. In excellent condition with only a small scratch in sky upper left of center near frame. Pastel is rich and intact, not powdery, and is mounted to board. New custom frame. 17"h x 26.5"w (view), 19.5"h x 29"w x 1"w (frame)
