This striking Louis XVI mantel clock is constructed in black marble and doré patonized brass castings. Brass castings, both mounted and inlaid and turnings are of the highest quality. A Federal eagle is depicted at center of the pendulum, surrounded by the more traditional sun motif of Louis XVI pendulums. These rare Parisian clocks were made for the American market and incorporated motifs of the new country. A delicate chime strikes the hour and once at the half. Circa 1780-1800 14.5" high 14.5" wide 4.5" deep Repair to one marble ogee, repair to the face at the XII hour. Good working condition. As always, more photos available upon request.
