A French Country comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed brass pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face signed by the clockmaker, B. Blanchard from the town of Landiras in Southwestern France. This region has the largest man-made woodland in Western Europe and the clock features an automated pendulum with a lumberjack sawing a log. The saw moves up and down as the pendulum swings back and forth. Elaborate embossed pendulum and clock surround have painted decoration in blue, white, pink and green. The bottom of the case has a decoupage scene of a farming village. Circa 1870-1890. 95.5"H x 21.25"W x 9"D
