A 19th Century French Majolica glazed ceramic jardiniere, or planter, in the shape of a wood box decorated with a brown bird or pheasant with outstretched wings against green leaves on a deep cobalt blue ground. Vividly colored glaze in green, brown, ocher, and cobalt with dark rose interior. Perfect for the display of orchids or ferns. Minor chip to the tip of the bird's beak and a chip to the underside of one foot of the base. Circa 1880-1900. 12"W x 9"D x 8.5"H
