A pair of French faux bamboo armoires, or wardrobes, made of pine with solid cherry faux bamboo details and mirrored door. Hand-painted chinoiserie style decoration: pale green and orange flowering vines and silver birds in raised relief. Some paint loss. Turned wood finials and realistic looking bamboo design. Interior has one adjustable shelf. Two drawers below the door, one with a lock and a shallow hidden drawer below. Each door has a working lock and key that also opens the drawer. Waxed patina. These armoires are from a private hotel in the Normandy Province. Sold as a pair. Note that the armoires will need to be secured to the wall because the mirror door is heavy. Circa 1900-1920.
