A French Country comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed brass pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face signed by the clockmaker, Goisbault at Thourie (in Brittany). Excellent quality, with a hand for the day of the month. This clock features an automated pendulum with a horse pulling a cart, the man and the horse's head rising up and down as the pendulum swings back and forth. Pendulum and clock surround have matching embossed, hand painted decoration in pale blue and white. Glass pane on the pendulum door has been replaced. Circa 1870-1900. 91.25"Hx 19.5"W x 8"D.
